On December 15, 1983, Talking Heads performed at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, California. This concert was the third of a four-night residency at the venue which was used to record Stop Making Sense, with most of the film taken from this night.

Details

After seeing Talking Heads in California earlier in the Speaking in Tongues Tour, director Jonathan Demme approached them about documenting their shows with a concert film, which they decided to record in California. After originally planning to film at San Francisco's Kabuki Theatre on December 10 and 11, they moved the filming location to Hollywood's Pantages Theatre instead. Following a rehearsal at the theatre with no audience on December 12, the band's residency at The Pantages started on December 13, however no footage from that night was used in Stop Making Sense. Some footage from the December 14 show was used, but most of the film was taken from this third night on the 15th. After this night, the fourth and final show on December 16 was not recorded for the film as they were satisfied with the footage they had already captured.
