In 2022, it was revealed that the band had begun communicating with each other again via Zoom calls, which came alongside several increases in the band's activity, such as several repressings, a new website, social media accounts, merchandise.

In 2023, [[A24]] acquired rights to [[Stop Making Sense]] and announced an upcoming rerelease for its 40th anniversary, which would include various forms such as the first ever double-LP release of the live album, a remastered 4K version, a theatrical rerelease, and (in 2024) a release with home media and streaming. The release featured various events that included the first appearances of all four band members together since 2002. They held Q&A sessions at several screenings of the film, beginning on September 11, 2023 at [[Toronto Film Festival]], and also included several group interviews. This continued into 2024, with an upcoming pair of anniversary screenings with all four band members present for a Q&A. One will be in [[New York City]] at [[King's Theater]], and the other will be in [[Los Angeles]] at the [[Pantages Theater]] where the film was originally filmed.
