Details

Talking Heads continued their European tour with the Ramones.

Chris Frantz remembers this day in his memoir:

It was a bright sunny day, a rare occurrence in Scotland, according to Frank Gallagher, one of our resident Scots. David and Frank had both been born not far from Glasgow and our collective mood was very high. After checking into the Ivanhoe Hotel, we took a long walk around the city where many young people who looked a lot like David were out promenading and window shopping while eating from brown paper bags of fish and chips. Tina observed that the boys were cuter than the girls. Glasgow was a tough town, but on this day, with the fair weather, people were happy to be alive.

Coincidentally, fellow CBGB alum Blondie was also on tour in Scotland. Guitarist Chris Stein remembered:

"The next day we were in Glasgow for the first time. By Some quirk of fate, the Ramones and Talking Heads were playing at Strathclyde University. The local media was all about "CBGB's in Glasgow," with the four bands [Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie, and Television] playing on two nights. [...] The show was in some kind of big gym room and when the bands came on, the old wooden floor bounced along with the crowd jumping around."[1]
