Empire is a song by David Byrne, released in 2004 on his album Grown Backwards. An early version was first written, performed, and recorded in 1993, around the same time as his self-titled album, and then around 1997, a version was recorded with Devo who also collaborated on the Feelings song Wicked Little Doll. A version was recorded again during sessions for Look into the Eyeball around 2001, with a fourth recording for Grown Backwards becoming the version released on an album. The version with Devo received a larger release in 2022 as part of the compilation album Noise for Now.
